Mission

The mission of the NCATA is to bring the sport of Acrobatics and Tumbling through NCAA emerging sport status to become a fully sanctioned NCAA championship sport.

The vision of the NCATA is to be dedicated in the guidance, leadership and governance for the sport of Acrobatics and Tumbling at the collegiate level based on fair and safe competition while adding competitive varsity opportunities for female student-athletes.
The NCATA is committed to promoting Acrobatics and Tumbling, creating new competitive opportunities for student-athletes, coaches, and institutions with an emphasis on the value of responsibility, competitiveness, dedication, sportsmanship, and education at the collegiate level.

Our Commitment

  • To offer competition at the varsity intercollegiate level to female student-athletes who have trained in the skill sets of tumbling, acrobatics, or cheerleading.
  • To provide safe, fair and consistent opportunities for collegiate athletes comparable to other varsity sports.
  • To become a NCAA Championship Sport in Divisions I, II and III with member institutions from across the country.

CaptainU provides high school gymnasts and cheerleaders college recruiting resources to help them fulfill the goal of competing at the collegiate level for a varsity program. NCATA members are NCAA DI, DII, DIII or NAIA affiliated universities and colleges across the country.  As members, each institution commits to operating a varsity Acrobatics & Tumbling program as part of their intercollegiate athletics department. NCATA works with partners that can provide additional “member benefits”, and CaptainU provides useful resources to gymnasts, cheerleaders and their parents to explore pathways to collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling.

A CaptainU College account is a resource for collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling coaches to discover and efficiently communicate with potential athletes. CaptainU provides college Acrobatics & Tumbling coaches free access to search prospective high school age gymnasts and cheerleaders, identify athletes they are interested in connecting with, and fully manage the recruiting process.

CaptainU provides all USA Gymnastics athlete members with a free profile, which allows them to host meet scores, academic information and videos in one easy-to-access place. Via their athlete profiles, gymnasts can message and introduce themselves to college coaches and make plans to connect in person at meets and events.

CaptainU is a set of tools that connects high school athletes and their parents with college coaches. Athletes use a profile to organize all their relevant athletic and academic information, build a list of schools they’re interested in and contact coaches directly at those schools from their profile. While being able to proactively reach out to colleges, athletes also get exposure with college coaches who use CaptainU to search for and contact athletes that meet their criteria.

Yes! All notifications on CaptainU are triggered by genuine coach activity. When a coach takes an action like running a search, viewing a profile, or saving an athlete to a recruiting list within their account, we let you know via the activity tab within your profile and a notification e-mail.

Athletes that actively engage with all the features in the CaptainU profile get the most exposure to college coaches on the CaptainU network. When you continuously update your profile, add colleges and send messages to coaches, you increase your exposure and ensure you are connecting with as many colleges as possible.

It’s free to create and maintain a profile on CaptainU! Certain benefits are only available to our paid members. Our paid plan (Silver) starts at $19.95/month and is just billed month to month.
